I know this is a little off topic, but it has been weighing heavily on me...
On Friday one of my close work friends was called to HR and was given the option to take a severence and leave or to keep working and possibly be fired. She told me she had no idea what she was going to do. I took a very much needed sick day on Monday (I have not called off at all since I got my sick/vacation time in November) and it turns out I missed a whole lot. My friend decided to leave the company as well as one other partner in my department. They had to pack up their things in front of everyone yesterday morning and leave. But that is not the worst of if, it turns out that they are not done laying off people yet and will be calling people down to the HR office during the rest of the week to offer them the same deal. I am so nervous, I was told that there is no real pattern to who they are laying off which means it could be anybody. So lets just say I can't wait until this week is over.
